Guide

Finding a dive site

Use the search bar or map filters on the Explore page to find dive sites by name, location, or type — reef, wreck, cave, cavern, and more. Tap any pin to open the site's full profile.

Reading a site's page

Every site page has several tabs: Overview (what the site is and what lives there), Conditions (weather, tides, currents, and visibility), Species & Hazards (marine life and site-specific dangers), and Community (other divers' notes and photos). A Dive Plan tab lets you run the planner pre-filled with that site's depth.

Logging your dives

Open Logbook to add a dive manually — site, date, depth, duration, buddy, and notes. Your dive history and stats are saved to your account and available any time you sign in.

Using the Tools

The Tools menu has the dive planner and tables, gear profiles and inspection tracker, your certification wallet, wishlist, fish identifier, underwater photo fix, and this Library and Guide. Everything is available from the Tools page in the top navigation.

⚖️ Liability & Safety FAQ

Are certifications verified?

No. The Dive App does not verify certifications. The cert wallet is entirely self-reported — a convenience tool so you can show your card offline at the dock. You are solely responsible for ensuring your training matches the dive.

Why do Red-tier sites show a warning before I see the map pin?

Red-tier sites are overhead environments — caves and caverns. Before showing full details, we ask you to confirm you understand the risks. This is an acknowledgment, not a certification check — The Dive App never verifies training, and a site's coordinates are never actually hidden or locked behind it.

What is DAN?

Divers Alert Network — a global non-profit that operates a 24/7 emergency hotline for dive accidents. Call DAN first in any dive emergency. They coordinate evacuation, chamber referral, and medical advice. The number appears under the Safety tab of every site.

Who is responsible for my dive?

You are. The Dive App provides reference information only — it is not a dive guide, instructor, or emergency service. Always dive within your training level, verify conditions independently, and never rely solely on this app to plan a technical or overhead dive.
